This stunning portrait of the famous Whistlejacket makes a wonderful 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Part of the British Artists collection.
Painted around 1762, George Stubbs created this piece for the 2nd Marquess of Rockingham, who was Whistlejacket's owner and a patron of Stubbs. Whistlejacket was foaled in 1749 and his most famous victory was in a four-mile race for 2000 guineas in York (August 1759). The clear background allows you to focus on the horse, and all the colours and textures found in his coat and mane. A beautiful piece of artwork that you can now piece together and keep in your home.
Dimensions: 66 x 50cm
